- What happened and what you did just before (such as the phrase you tried to translate)
FAQ
Which dialects will I get?
By default, three of the 47 prefectures are picked at random every time you tap “Translate”. To hear one prefecture's dialect, turn on “Choose prefecture” on the home screen and pick one. While it's on, translations go only to that prefecture.
What are tickets?
Each translation uses one ticket. You can hold up to 5, and one refills automatically every 30 minutes.
When you're out, tap “Watch ad +1” and watch a video ad to the end to get one right away. Tickets are always free.
I watched an ad but didn't get a ticket
You only get a ticket if the video is watched to the end and loads correctly. Please try again later with a good connection. A ticket also refills on its own after 30 minutes.
Do people really talk like that?
Translations are generated by AI, so they may differ from how locals actually speak or sound a little exaggerated. Enjoy them for fun, and ask someone from the area about expressions you're curious about.
It says “Couldn't translate this one”
Please check the following and try again:
- Look for typos
- Try a slightly longer sentence instead of a single word
- Avoid using lots of letters or numbers
- Make sure you have a good connection
A ticket is used even when a translation fails. If it keeps failing, please let us know.
Can I type in English?
Yes. English phrases are first translated into standard Japanese, then into each dialect. When your iPhone's language is not Japanese, the App is shown in English and every dialect phrase comes with a romaji reading.
How long can a phrase be?
Up to 100 characters at a time.
Are my phrases saved?
They are sent to our translation server to be translated, but the server does not store them, and the App keeps no history. See the Privacy Policy for details. Please don't enter personal or private information.
How do I share a result?
Tap “Share” on the result screen to send an image of the result with a short message to social media or chats. Tap “Copy” to copy just the dialect phrase.
How do I change the theme color?
Tap the gear button at the top right of the home screen, choose “Theme Color”, and pick orange, light blue, purple or light green.
Can I turn off ads?
Not in the current version. Ads are what keep the App free — thank you for understanding.
The App isn't working properly
