Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) set out the conditions for using the iOS app “Gotochi Kotodama” (the “App”) provided by Nook Works (“we”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. This English version is provided for convenience; if it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
1. Scope
- These Terms apply to all matters relating to your use of the App.
- How we handle your information is described in the separate Privacy Policy.
- The App Store terms set by Apple Inc. also apply to obtaining and using the App.
2. About the App
- The App uses AI to translate phrases you enter (“phrases”) into regional dialects of Japan and displays the results.
- We may change or discontinue the App without prior notice.
3. Translation results
- Translations and the home screen lines are generated automatically by AI. We do not guarantee that they are accurate, that they reflect how people in a region actually speak, or that they suit any particular purpose.
- Results may contain unintended or offensive expressions.
- If you use results in official documents, commercial advertising or important communication, check them yourself at your own responsibility.
4. Entering phrases
- Phrases are sent to our translation server and to the service providers listed in the Privacy Policy for translation.
- Do not enter personal information about yourself or others, such as names, addresses or phone numbers, or anything confidential.
5. Tickets and ads
- Each translation uses one translation ticket (“ticket”). Tickets are given free of charge over time or for watching ads, and have no monetary or other property value.
- Tickets cannot be exchanged for money, refunded or transferred to other users.
- Tickets are not carried over if you delete the App or change devices.
- We may change the maximum number of tickets, the refill time and how tickets are given.
- The App shows ads provided by third parties. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for any transactions you make after following an ad.
6. Sharing
You may share results from the App personally, for example on social media. You are responsible for resolving any disputes with others arising from what you share.
7. Prohibited conduct
When using the App, you must not:
- Violate laws or public order and morals
- Enter phrases that defame, discriminate against or infringe the rights of others and publish the results
- Use results to demean a particular region or its people
- Interfere with the App or the servers and networks it uses, including making large numbers of translations by automated means
- Disassemble, decompile or reverse engineer the App, except where permitted by law
- Access the servers used by the App other than through the App, or attempt to access them without authorization
- Obtain tickets by improper means
- Do anything else we consider inappropriate
8. Intellectual property
Copyrights and other intellectual property rights in the App, including its illustrations and design, belong to us or their rightful owners.
9. Disclaimer
- We do not guarantee that the App is free of bugs or errors or that it is always available. Translation may be temporarily unavailable, for example because of outages at service providers.
- Except in cases of our intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for any damage arising from using or being unable to use the App.
- Notwithstanding the above, where we are held liable under the Consumer Contract Act or other laws, our liability is limited to ordinary and direct damage actually incurred, except in cases of our intent or gross negligence.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms when we consider it necessary. The changed Terms take effect when posted on this page. Continuing to use the App after a change means you agree to the changed Terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over our location as the court of first instance.
